AN EVENING WITH GRAHAM TAYLOR OBE

Imps legend and former England Manager Graham Taylor OBE entertained and enlightened Lincoln City Supporters’ Trust members and guests at an informal fans Forum held at Sincil Bank.

Former England manager Graham Taylor

Graham shared stories about the record breaking Imps team from 1976 recalling in great detail all of the players, many of whom have gone on to stay in football, and some of the key games in that season as well as the week long celebrations!

Having moved on from the Imps, Graham talked about management at other league clubs including Watford, Aston Villa and Wolves as well as his time as England manager. He then came up to the current day by discussing his role as a pundit and journalist.

In a lively question and answer session Graham gave his own forthright views on the current England set up, the Premiership including the number of overseas players and his relationship with some of the key personalities in the game.

Graham spoke for over two hours on a large variety of subjects ranging from managing the Imps to money in the game, foreign players and youngsters trying to get a pro contract. He also mentioned parents of boys who only see the game through their sons actions and don't always behave which is leading to a trial in some junior leagues of the pitch being roped off thus keeping the parents further away from the pitch.

Clearly the fondness that Graham has for the Imps came across and he reminded everyone how he would take the players to factories and see people who had a "real job" hoping that they would realise how fortunate they were.

He also spoke about the Trust and how important it was for the supporters, the Club and the City to unite to enable the Club to go forward as it could do nothing but good for all parties.

A tremendous evening enjoyed by all and our thanks to Graham for giving up his time.
