What is a Trust

Meet the Team

Geoff Wilkins - The Goal Chairman

In 1974 I moved to Lincolnshire to take up the Headship of Digby C.E. Primary School. I was still playing sport at the time so I occasionally watched evening matches and was not a regular fan in the Taylor Years. Injury ended an undistinguished playing career, so being at a loose end on a Saturday I started watching L.C.F.C. in 1980

The highest point watching the Imps was the first trip to Cardiff and the lowest point watching the Imps the relegation to the Conference. My favourite player was Gareth Ainsworth who was an exciting and wholehearted player who could raise the crowd like no other. Looking back at the many managers in the time I have been watching the Imps Colin Murphy stands out as my favourite.

Visiting Feethams Darlington’s old ground has to rank as my favourite away trip whilst the worst is undoubtedly Accrington Stanley (exactly).

I joined the Trust Board because the idea of a football club with a community ethos was exactly what I believed in. It was our club and I could play my part in developing this. My hopes for the future are that The Club’s the Hub idea comes to fruition with the development of a superb stadium for the club and the community.

My favourite Imps story has to be when I had travelled to Grimsby on the Red Imps coach and we had arrived a little later than planned. A certain member of the Trust Board was anxious to get to the press box. He carries with him an enormous briefcase filled with mainly useless information though he would dispute this. In his haste to get to the ground he had forgotten to hitch up his trousers. With both hands full the inevitable happened, trousers round his ankles outside Blundell Park.
